Have you tried StitchFix?

As promised I am writing a review with my experience using StitchFix. I love the idea of StitchFix. It helps you become a bit more daring and trying new styles that you probably would never have picked for yourself. The cool thing is, you get to try them home and send back what you don’t like within three business days of receiving the box. What’s the worst case scenario? You don’t like any of the items and you are charged $20 for someone taking the time to pick your styles. However, if you even buy just one item, the $20 is used as a credit towards your purchase which is amazing. Did I mention that returns are free? In my opinion more often than not you will keep at least one item and so it works out.

The signing up process is not super quick because you have to fill out your likes and dislikes, so they can get an idea of what works for you. The only part I wasn’t crazy about is picking your sizes and not taking measurements. So I picked a size for pants, and I received two pants in my first box. One of them was too small and the other a little big. I think actual measurements might work better.

However, when I got my box it was so exciting to try on the clothes. I got five items and I kept 3 of them. The cool thing as well, is that you receive these style cards to help you use the items in outfits (shown below). The cards are my favorite. Also, you can point your stylist to pinterest board and other links of the items you are interested in. This makes it so much easier for them to get an idea of what you are looking for.

The other awesome thing, you can pick your price range so you don’t end up with super expensive items that you can’t afford.

The Art of Travel – Lebanon – Have you been?

Share Button

Politics, tensions, unrest is mostly what you hear about Lebanon on the news, but there is more to the old country than what you hear. Many people have the misconception that it’s a desert because it’s in the Middle East. In truth, Lebanon is nothing like you would expect. You have beautiful beaches, breathtaking ruins, and amazing mountains with equally amazing views. Above all, there is the art of life. Nothing short of a complete disaster would stop the lebanese from enjoying their social life. Even when the 2006 war happened, people still made it to the beach and out to pubs. The only change during the unrest time is the areas where people hang out. The lebanese have this joie de vivre that helps them adapt to the current circumstances and have fun! When it comes to the fashion scene, the lebanese women and men love to dress to the latest trends. So if you want to not stick out, you’d better be somewhat trendy with your outfits :)

What to see?

The list can go on forever but let me talk about the few places I’ve been to recently. Lebanon is divided into six governorates: Beirut, North, Mount Lebanon, Beqaa, South and Nabatieh. Recently, I visited five of the six so I will highlight where I’ve been in each one.

Beirut

Beirut, the Paris of the Middle East, is the city that doesn’t sleep. The party goes on from sun down until sun up. After the war, the downtown area (Centre Ville) was rebuilt. The new architecture and buildings are beautiful. They may not be exactly what they were before the war, but the changes are beautiful nonetheless. The nejmeh square and the shop areas are amazing to walk around. Checkout Beirut marina too where you will find amazing restaurants and cafes to hang out and have a coffee or drinks. The popular night life is in Ashrafieh (the Mono and Gemmayze). Spring to the end of fall is probably the best times to find yourself outdoors. It does get super busy from end of June until September. Expect to see a lot of tourists around that time.

Lamb 1887 Joanna Tote – Purse review

Winter is really in gear in the Boston area. It’s been very cold these past few days. I would like to continue with my purse reviews that I started a while back. In this article I would like to talk about the Lamb 1887 Joanna Tote in grey. I love this bag. Ever since I got it, I carry it a lot. It fits my laptop, mini bag of random stuff, my huge wallet and other small accessories. It looks sharp and the grey is beautiful. The quality is very good and the price is reasonable. I think it’s a pass par tout bag and a great addition to hope from work to dinner and look chic. You can find the purse here here.

Mikimoto Akoya pearl set – how to pick your pearls

On my journey to find the perfect set of pearls for me that I would in the far future pass on to someone to love them, I learned a lot about pearls. I wanted a good quality set so I decided to go for the saltwater pearls, specifically Akoya pearls. From all the readings I did, it seemed that saltwater pearls are better quality and since I was on somewhat of a budget, Akoya was the best match compared to Tahitian and South Sea. My next quest was to figure out the size of the pearls. I didn’t want anything less than 6 MM because I feel like they are too small. Apparently, the oysters that produce Akoya pearls are not big relatively speaking, so when the size of the pearls is greater than 7 MM they get very pricey so I opted for something between 6 and 7 MM. To find these pearls I started searching online and I found out that there are a lot of counterfeits. For that reason I decided to go with Mikimoto because they are the most reputable. This search brought me to saks where I found a set that includes the necklace, bracelet and earrings in one. That’s perfect because it’s usually very hard to match pieces to have the same color and size. By opting for 6 – 7 MM size range, I was able to find this set at a reasonable price. I absolutely love them and the cool thing about pearls, wearing them is the best way to maintain them because they won’t dry out. I included a picture of the set I got below. Let me know your thoughts!

Céline Mini Luggage – purse review

A while back I started a chain of posts in which I reviewed bags that I own and use. Today, I want to talk about the Céline Mini Luggage in Dune. I love this bag as much as I love my GIVENCHY Antigona bag. Size wise it’s perfect. I don’t know why it’s called “Mini” because it is definitely NOT small. It’s about the same size as the medium Antigona if not a bit bigger. If you are considering this bag but not sure about the size make sure you go and see it. In my humble opinion I think the Mini is a perfect size. It fits my 13″ laptop but it wouldn’t look right with a larger laptop. The design is beautiful and unique. I was just in NYC two days ago and as I was shopping around it really annoyed me how unoriginal some high end designers are becoming. Céline pops out among other bags for its originality in style and design. It fits all my things without a problem. I like the Dune color because it’s neutral and goes with everything. This bag is the pebbled leather. I like this leather better than the smooth leather. Durability wise, I think the smooth leather would show less scratches and/or wear. I just happen to like this leather better and I try to be very careful with my bags. I hope you find this review helpful. Let me know your thoughts!

Christmas in the fashion world

Christmas is coming up soon and so it’s the perfect time to take a look at what decorations were found in the fashion world. Some photos are from present Christmas and some are from the past. I wanted to show the different approach some designers took and how it reflects what the brand stands for. I feel that Dior and Oscar de la Renta are similar. They took a very elegant approach that implies high end. Hermes as the usual went for the simple cute design matching their website theme. Check it out here. I hope you like the photos. Let me know which ones are your favorite!

Givenchy Antigona – purse review

Hi guys, today I wanted to review the Givenchy Antigona medium bag. I think this is my absolutely new favorite bag. I love the medium size. I can fit my 13″ laptop as well as my (big) wallet and a small makeup bag. Even when I don’t have a lot of stuff in it, it retains its shape and looks super elegant. The quality is great. I love it with the strap on. When I’m shopping I will use the strap so I can free up my hands. I receive a lot of compliments when I carry it. The leather is beautiful and doesn’t show scratches easily. If you are looking for a versatile bag, this is perfect! I got it in medium blue from Saks. I love that color. I carry it often even though I usually like to rotate my bags. This color was unique. I’m usually weary of buying expensive bags in colors other than neutrals. However, this blue can be worn year around and it’s really beautiful. Quality wise, I think Givenchy really stands behind its products and is doing an excellent job. The bag oozes elegance. I’m completely in love with it!

CHANEL classic flap bag – purse review

Hi everyone. I was going through rearranging my closet and as I was looking at all my babies (aka my bags), I figured why not write reviews about them. So today, I’m going to start with the first CHANEL bag I bought when I was in NYC. Below you see the CHANEL Limited Edition Cruise 2011 Nautical Charms classic flap bag.

CHANEL Limited Edition Cruise 2011 Nautical Charms classic flap bag

This bag is beautiful. It’s CHANEL’s classic bag with charms. I find it very elegant. I was a bit hesitant when I got it with charms, but it looked so unique and different compared to the usual classic bag. It can be warn to so many occasions, very versatile. This is the medium bag and the more I use it, the more I wished it was the bigger size; however, they did not have the bigger size with charms. The lambskin is very soft but very easy to scratch. I have to be very careful with it. If I ever get another CHANEL bag I would more likely consider the caviar one because the leather is more resistant to scratches. Overall, I love this bag. The quality is really good and it feels and looks elegant. The charms make it more unique. I wish less counterfeits were around because I see the CHANEL classic bag everywhere now and to me it makes a bit less appealing.

Beauty products that I use and love

We all have products that we find and fall in love with them. Today I want to share with you some of the products that I love and use a lot. I will start with my morning routine. I found this new facial wash that is very refreshing and made from natural ingredients by Christina Moss Naturals. It leaves you with a very refreshing clean feeling. I use it with a face brush by Olay. Afterwards I apply Moisturizer also by Christina Moss Naturals. It has a licorice smell to it when you first apply it but I don’t find it to bother me and makes my face feel very refreshed. You can find the Facial wash and Moisturizer here, and the brush here. I bought all the products through amazon since Moss sells through amazon and the Olay product was cheaper there.

Love the facial wash and moisturizer by Christina Moss Naturals.
